Recognizes Herbert Young for his accomplishments as one of the best Golden Gloves boxers in the South, winning multiple state and Mid-South titles from 1959 through 1962.

Young won the 147 pound welterweight class in the Jackson City Tournament in 1959 as a novice and claimed the overall Mississippi title that same year.

In February 1959, Young won the Mid-South Golden Gloves Championship in Memphis, Tennessee, and also won the Jackson City and Mississippi Open Welterweight titles in 1960 and 1961 before retiring in 1962.

After retiring from boxing, Young became a barber, learned watch repair at Jones County Junior College, and later established a jewelry business in 1992.
