Commends Dr. Leslie Ray Matthews, a Mississippi native and assistant professor of surgery at Morehouse School of Medicine, for his research and advocacy regarding Vitamin D health benefits and treatments

Recognizes Dr. Matthews' collaborative work with Morehouse doctors on a landmark paper published in the American Journal of Surgery examining Vitamin D's benefits in critically ill patients, including decreased hospital stays, costs, and mortality rates

Acknowledges Dr. Matthews' pioneering medical therapy combining Vitamin D, omega-3 fatty acids, glutamine, and progesterone to treat concussions and traumatic brain injuries, and his ongoing research on Vitamin D's role in reducing congestive heart failure

Notes Dr. Matthews' successful implementation of a Vitamin D supplementation protocol at Martin Luther King Jr. High School in Georgia that resulted in a football team's 23-2 two-year record and nearly 100% reduction in sports injuries
