Senate Bill 2037 Summary

• Amends Section 37-17-6, Mississippi Code of 1972, to prohibit withdrawal of school or school district accreditation from resulting in suspension of participation in extracurricular or interscholastic activities.

• Specifies that accreditation withdrawal cannot limit participation in regular or post-season games, sports, cheerleading, drill, dance, speech, debate, choral music, band, or any other school-organized extracurricular activities.

• Requires the Commission on School Accreditation to amend its rules and regulations to conform to this prohibition on activity suspensions.

• Takes effect July 1, 2015.
