MS SB2143

Amends Mississippi Code Section 77-13-9 to require underground utility line operators to obtain permission from property owners before crossing or entering private property to mark underground utility lines or facilities.

Operators must still respond within two working days of receiving excavation notice and mark the approximate location of utilities using the specified color code system, or request to be present at the excavation site.

Maintains existing requirements for operators to investigate utility locations, provide written notice if no facilities exist in the area, or request additional time (up to two more working days) if excavation is needed to locate facilities.

Effective July 1, 2015.
