MS SB2150

Amends Section 29-3-92 of Mississippi Code to clarify school districts' authority regarding easements to sixteenth section lands and lieu lands.

Allows school boards to acquire easements necessary for access to sixteenth section lands by purchase, with fair market value determined by average of at least two independent appraisals when purchase price exceeds $50,000.

Explicitly prohibits school districts and local governing authorities from using eminent domain to acquire easement access to sixteenth section lands or lieu lands against private landowners.

Effective July 1, 2015.
