MS SB2294

Amends Section 37-11-29 to clarify that school employees must report child abuse, child sexual abuse, child neglect, and sex crimes against minors in accordance with Sections 43-21-353 and 97-5-51, in addition to reporting unlawful activities to school administrators.

Requires mandatory reporters (including school employees) to make reports personally and not delegate this responsibility to any other person when reporting child abuse, child sexual abuse, child neglect, or sex crimes against a minor.

Mandates that school employees report suspected child abuse, sexual abuse, neglect, or sex crimes to both law enforcement (as required by existing law) and to the school superintendent or principal.

Takes effect July 1, 2015.
