SB 2622 Summary

• Expands law enforcement authority of the State Capitol Police Director, Police Chief, Deputy Chief, Lieutenant, and Police Director's designee to arrest without warrant for misdemeanors and felonies within their presence or view.

• Authorizes Capitol police to pursue and arrest offenders anywhere in Mississippi, not limited to Capitol Complex grounds.

• Permits Capitol police to aid and assist other peace officers, participate in manhunts, and respond to natural disasters within the state upon approval of the Department of Finance and Administration Executive Director.

• Takes effect July 1, 2015.
