Reestablishes the Council for Education Technology as an advisory group attached to the Board of the Department of Information Technology Services and the State Board of Education to develop a master plan for education technology.

Council membership consists of 7 ex officio voting members (Chief Information Officer of Department of Education, State Superintendent of Public Education, Executive Director of Department of Information Technology Services, Executive Director of Mississippi Public Broadcasting, Executive Director of Mississippi Library Commission, Executive Director of State Board for Community and Junior Colleges, and Commissioner of Higher Education) plus 8 appointed members serving four-year terms with a maximum of two consecutive terms.

Council chairperson elected annually with no member serving more than two consecutive years as chairperson; council shall meet at least four times per year with majority of members present constituting a quorum.

Council responsibilities include providing vision for education technology use, advising legislative appropriations committees, reviewing technology plans and appropriations of state-funded entities, serving as information resource on education technology and bandwidth issues, and submitting annual reports to the legislature.

Act effective July 1, 2015.
