Lewisburg High School "Marching Patriots" won the Class 5A State Marching Band Championship on November 1, 2014, in Pearl, placing first among six finalists from 16 competing bands.

The band consists of 128 students in the band and color guard who began preparation in July and competed in multiple local competitions before winning the state title.

The marching show titled "Coming Home" depicted a soldier's deployment and return home, with the color guard featuring framed pictures of student band members' veteran family members.

The band's staff includes Kim Hallmark, Ben Bullock, Ben McLemore, Mike Doss, Chad Berkstresser, Tori Conklin, Shelby Taylor, Alex Vaughan, Calvin Guy, and Madison Savoy.

The Legislature commends the Marching Patriots band, directors, parents, and sponsors, and directs the resolution be presented to the band director, school principal, and DeSoto County Board of Education.
