John Ballard Gorman, 45, a Mississippi Gaming Commission Enforcement Officer and Director of Investigations, died on January 21, 2015, following an accident during a training exercise in Tunica County.

Gorman served the Gaming Commission for 21 years beginning in January 1994, including as Branch Director of the Vicksburg Office and was the first employee loss in the Commission's 22-year history.

Gorman graduated from Mississippi College in 1992 with a Criminal Justice degree, earned certifications as an NRA Law Enforcement Firearms Instructor and Glock Firearms Armorer, and was a devout member of Saint Richard Catholic Church in Jackson.

The Legislature extends condolences to Gorman's surviving family, including his wife Summer Goff Gorman, daughters Abby Grace and Lauren Burgett, mother Mildred Ballard Gorman, and extended family members.

The resolution directs that a copy be presented to Gorman's family and the Mississippi Gaming Commission Executive Director, forwarded to the Governor, and made available to the Capitol Press Corps.
