East Webster High School "Wolverines" girls basketball team won the MHSAA Class 2A state championship with a 68-64 victory over West Tallahatchie, finishing the season 31-1.

Quantesha Patterson scored 39 points and was named player of the game as the team rallied from a double-digit deficit in the final minute.

Head Coach/Principal Bill Brand took over the team after original Coach Stan Hughey passed away in December; Brand had previously coached the team and led them to the title game in 2007.

The resolution honors the team's 18-member roster, coaching staff, and managers for bringing honor to their school, community, and the State of Mississippi.

Resolution directs the recognition be presented to Principal/Coach Bill Brand, forwarded to the Webster County Board of Education, and made available to the Capitol Press Corps.
