Amends Section 63-3-615 of Mississippi Code to clarify when drivers need not stop for school buses on divided highways.

Drivers on divided highways with four or more lanes permitting at least two lanes of traffic in opposite directions are exempt from stopping if the school bus is stopped in the opposing roadway or in a loading zone where pedestrians cannot cross.

Violations remain subject to fines of $350-$750 for first offense and $750-$1,500 for second offense within five years, with possible jail time up to one year.

Second or subsequent convictions result in a 90-day driver's license suspension imposed by the Commissioner of Public Safety.

Effective July 1, 2016.
