Increases the required law enforcement training completion period for marine patrol officers from 6 months to 1 year before they become eligible for salary payment.

Enforcement officers must attend and complete an appropriate law enforcement curriculum at the Mississippi Law Enforcement Officers' Training Academy or approved program at the commission's expense before or shortly after appointment.

Officers who fail to attend the academy or complete required law enforcement qualification examinations within the one-year period are not entitled to salary payment.

Requires periodic advanced law enforcement training courses for enforcement officers to maintain proficiency in modern technical advances.

Effective date is July 1, 2016.
