Removes the requirement that the Commission on Marine Resources test oyster reef waters between 5 and 10 days after a closure under Mississippi Code Section 49-15-36.

Allows the commission to close oyster reef areas to protect public health if reefs are over-harvested or contain high percentages of sublegal-sized oysters.

Maintains the commission's authority to open closed reefs for oyster harvesting once testing indicates oysters are suitable for consumption, without a specified timeline.

Preserves the commission's discretion to limit oyster sales for human consumption and authorizes the Gulf Coast Research Laboratory or other certified laboratories to conduct reef condition tests.

Effective July 1, 2016.
