• Defines "facility-based physicians" as radiologists, anesthesiologists, pathologists, emergency department physicians, neonatologists, and assistant surgeons providing services at hospitals where they have clinical privileges.

• Requires facility-based physicians billing out-of-network patients to include a conspicuous explanation of mandatory mediation process on billing statements when patient responsibility exceeds $250 after copayments, deductibles, and coinsurance.

• Allows patients to request mediation for out-of-network facility-based physician claims exceeding $250 when services are provided at hospitals with preferred provider or contracted status.

• Applies to medical services provided on or after July 1, 2016, with prior services governed by existing law.

• Brings forward sections 25-15-17 and 83-9-5 of Mississippi Code relating to benefit assignments and insurance policy provisions for possible amendment.
