Allows crime victims or their families to employ private attorneys to prosecute criminal cases when a conflict of interest exists with the district attorney.

Permits the district attorney to still prosecute or assist the privately hired attorney if the district attorney chooses to do so.

Enables victims or their families to file complaints with the Mississippi Supreme Court or Attorney General alleging inadequate prosecution.

Authorizes the Supreme Court or Attorney General to levy sanctions against prosecutors found to have engaged in inadequate prosecution.

Takes effect July 1, 2016.
