Requires persons and entities providing mammography services to give written notification to patients whose mammogram shows dense breast tissue

Notification must be included in the written summary sent directly to patients and must inform them that dense breast tissue is common but may make cancer detection harder and potentially increase breast cancer risk

Requires the notification to advise patients to discuss with their health care provider whether supplemental tests beyond mammography may be appropriate based on individual risk

Defines "dense breast tissue" as heterogeneously or extremely dense tissue as identified in nationally recognized breast imaging reporting guidelines, including the American College of Radiology's breast imaging reporting and data system

Authorizes the State Department of Health to update the definition of dense breast tissue by regulation if new terms are defined in revised national guidelines after July 1, 2016
