MS HB1294

Prohibits counties, municipalities, and political subdivisions from adopting ordinances, rules, or regulations restricting the possession, sale, purchase, transfer, licensing, manufacture, ownership, or use of knives in a manner more restrictive than state law.

Defines "knife" as a cutting instrument with a sharpened or pointed blade.

Voids any conflicting local knife ordinances enacted before or after July 1, 2016.

Allows counties and municipalities to regulate the carrying of firearms or knives at public parks, public governmental meetings, political rallies, and non-firearm-related school, college, or professional athletic events.

Effective July 1, 2016.
