House Bill 158 Summary

• Requires Medicaid enrolled hospital providers to be reimbursed for long acting reversible contraceptives (LARCs) insertion at the time of delivery outside of the current All Patient Refined-Diagnosis Related Group (APR-DRG) payment methodology.

• Establishes LARC insertion coverage as an add-on benefit paid according to a payment schedule developed by the Division of Medicaid, separate from APR-DRG reimbursement process.

• Creates similar reimbursement requirement for LARC insertion services provided by Medicaid providers generally, not limited to hospital delivery settings.

• Effective date: July 1, 2016.
