Appropriates $3,000,000 to the Mississippi Department of Marine Resources for the Southern Mississippi Planning and Development District's Coastal Map Revision Project for fiscal year 2017 (July 1, 2016 - June 30, 2017).

Project goal is to revise floodplain maps in Hancock County, Harrison County, and Jackson County to reduce the number of properties designated as special flood hazard areas with Base Flood Elevations and V-Zone classifications.

Funds will be used to contract with an engineering firm to perform modeling and engineering services necessary to complete the coastal map revision project.

Remapping effort is intended to reduce flood insurance rates and construction costs along the Mississippi Gulf Coast.

Funding is drawn from special funds in the State Treasury and paid by warrant through the State Fiscal Officer; effective July 1, 2016.
