Stone County Board of Supervisors is authorized to contract with the United States, any state, or private correctional entities to house offenders in the Stone County Correctional Facility.

Housing is limited to minimum or medium security offenders who are in custody of the contracting jurisdiction, have no escape histories, and are sentenced for felonies or misdemeanors consistent with American Correctional Association Standards.

Board may enter into agreements for incarceration for time periods acceptable to all parties and exercise all powers necessary to operate the correctional facility.

Board may contract with the Department of Corrections or other state, federal, or local entities for facility inspection, monitoring, and maintenance assistance.

Board is prohibited from contracting for the housing of maximum security offenders under this act.
