Require nursing home owners and operators to purchase and maintain minimum liability insurance coverage of $500,000 per nursing home covering each resident per occurrence of negligence.

Liability insurance must cover indemnity of the insured only, excluding defense costs.

Require owners and operators to provide written proof of liability insurance coverage to the State Department of Health before establishing, owning, or operating a nursing home.

Mandate written disclosure of liability insurance coverage in contracts with patients or residents using bold, conspicuous type, and prominently display the disclosure in each facility.

Authorize the State Department of Health to suspend or revoke licenses of nursing homes whose owners or operators violate these insurance requirements, effective July 1, 2016.
