Home schooled students enrolled in legitimate home instruction programs may participate in extracurricular activities available in their local school district upon parental request for registration.

Home schooled students must reside within the attendance boundaries of the school where they seek to participate and submit registration requests before district deadlines.

Home schooled students must adhere to the same rules, regulations, and requirements as full-time public school students; school boards cannot impose additional requirements on home schooled participants.

State Board of Education may establish rules and regulations to promote consistency of home schooled student participation policies across local school districts.

Effective date: July 1, 2016.
