Expresses Mississippi's profound regret for the state's role in slavery and apologizes for the wrongs inflicted by slavery and its lasting effects on African Americans and their descendants.

Acknowledges the deprivation of life, human dignity, and constitutional protections suffered by enslaved people, and extends deepest sympathies to the enslaved and their descendants.

Encourages remembrance and teaching of the history of slavery, Jim Crow laws, and modern-day slavery to ensure these tragedies are not forgotten or repeated.

Specifies that this resolution shall not be used in or serve as a basis for any litigation.

Directs distribution of the resolution to state elected officials, institutions of higher learning, NAACP Mississippi Chapter, Southern Christian Leadership Conference Mississippi Chapter, and the Capitol Press Corps for further dissemination to constituents.
