Proposes amendment to Section 44 of the Mississippi Constitution to remove manslaughter, Internal Revenue Code violations, and state tax law violations from the list of crimes that do not disqualify a person from holding office

Maintains existing disqualifications for bribery, perjury, and other infamous crimes, as well as felonies convicted in other states or federal court after amendment ratification

Retains pardon exception allowing a person to hold office if pardoned for any disqualifying offense

Specifies that the exception for tax and manslaughter crimes previously allowed office-holding only when the offense did not involve misuse or abuse of office or money obtained through office

Scheduled for voter approval on the first Tuesday after the first Monday of November 2016
