Southwest Mississippi Community College Bears men's basketball team won the 2016 Mississippi Association of Community and Junior Colleges State Championship on February 25, 2016, their first title since 1962-1963.

Team finished the regular season with a 17-8 record and earned the number three seed in the South Division playoffs.

Bears defeated Northwest Mississippi Community College 86-80 in the first round, East Mississippi Community College 61-51 in the semifinals, and Jones County Junior College 94-83 in the championship game.

Head Coach Thomas Gray led the team with assistance from coaches Andy Farrell and Mike DuBose; key players included Terrel Miller, Rodrick Sikes, and James Hawthorne.
