Commends Dr. Lewis Liddell Sr. for 24 years of distinguished service as Director of Bands at Jackson State University and congratulates him on his retirement.

Recognizes Dr. Liddell's 49-year career in musical education, including 14 years as band director in Jackson Public Schools and leadership positions at five universities before returning to Jackson State in 1992.

Acknowledges the growth and national recognition of Jackson State's "Sonic Boom of the South" marching band under Dr. Liddell's direction, expanding from 128 to over 300 members and performing at major events including the Honda Battle of the Bands and NAACP Image Awards.

Details Dr. Liddell's numerous honors and professional affiliations, including the 2005 Martin Luther King Music Award, membership in the College Band Directors National Association, and service as adjudicator and clinician throughout the nation.

Directs copies of the resolution be furnished to Dr. Liddell and the Capitol Press Corps.
