Southwest Mississippi Community College Men's Basketball Team won the 2016 Mississippi Association of Community and Junior Colleges State Championship on February 25, 2016, their first title since 1962-1963.

Team finished regular season with a 17-8 record and earned the number three seed in the South Division playoffs.

Bears defeated Northwest Mississippi Community College 86-80 in the first round, East Mississippi Community College 61-51 in the semifinals, and Jones County Community College 94-83 in the championship game.

Head Coach Thomas Gray led the team with support from assistant coaches Andy Farrell and Mike DuBose, and the roster included 14 named players plus student assistants and athletic trainer.

House of Representatives commends and congratulates the team and coaches for their outstanding achievement and extends best wishes for continued success in athletic and academic endeavors.
