Commends Lindsey Meyer of Pass Christian High School for being named a 2016 State Honoree in the 21st Annual Prudential Spirit of Community Awards, recognizing her as one of Mississippi's top youth volunteers.

Meyer organized "sensory friendly" movie presentations at Cinemark Theaters in Gulfport to accommodate children with autism and special needs by eliminating previews, lowering sound, keeping lights on, and allowing audience movement and vocalizations.

State Honoree award includes $1,000, an engraved silver medallion, and a trip to Washington, DC for national recognition events with potential for additional $5,000 and a gold medallion if selected as National Honoree.

Meyer was inspired to take action after reading about an autistic boy being removed from a movie theater, and successfully persuaded Cinemark to host monthly sensory-friendly showings after the first event received overwhelming community support.

Directs that copies of the resolution be furnished to Meyer and members of the Capitol Press Corps.
