MS SB2005

Requires the Department of Corrections to prioritize court-ordered restitution payments to victims over room, board, personal living expenses, and court-ordered costs or fines for offenders at restitution centers

Mandates that restitution payments continue during the offender's stay at the restitution center and after discharge until paid in full

Court-ordered costs and fines become eligible for disbursement only after court-ordered restitution has been paid in full

Authorizes the Department of Public Welfare and Department of Corrections to jointly seek federal funding and develop additional restitution programs for offenders

Effective date of July 1, 2016
