MS SB2160

Allows students who withdrew from Mississippi public high school before graduation to receive a diploma if they complete all required graduation coursework and achieve a passing score on an assessment comparable to those used when they would have graduated.

Requires students seeking a diploma to submit a request to their last attended school district that includes relevant transcripts of completed coursework.

Authorizes the State Department of Education to determine and/or develop reasonably comparable assessments for students applying for diplomas under this provision.

Effective July 1, 2016.
