Amends Mississippi Code Section 25-3-95 to allow state employees to use major medical leave without first using personal leave when a dependent is dismissed from school or daycare due to illness, provided written notice from the school or daycare is submitted as evidence.

Major medical leave may continue to be used without prior personal leave for regularly scheduled doctor visits or hospital treatments for chronic diseases certified by a physician.

The provision applies to all state employees except public university employees who do not contribute to the Mississippi Public Employees' Retirement System or the State Institutions of Higher Learning Optional Retirement Program.

Effective date is July 1, 2016.
