Senate Bill 2230 Summary

• Increases Mississippi Coast Coliseum Commission membership from five (5) to seven (7) members, with five (5) appointed by the Harrison County Board of Supervisors and two (2) appointed by elected mayors from each judicial district in Harrison County.

• Requires commission actions regarding land acquisition, budget approval, loans, grants, and property sales to be approved by the Harrison County Board of Supervisors.

• Transfers administration of the Mississippi Coast Coliseum and Convention Trust Fund from the commission to the Harrison County Board of Supervisors, to be used exclusively for capital improvements, repairs, and debt service on the coliseum and convention center.

• Limits Harrison County Board of Supervisors expenditures from the trust fund to two million dollars ($2,000,000.00) without legislative approval.

• Exempts the Mississippi Coast Coliseum and Convention Trust Fund from state appropriation requirements and changes commission publication requirements from newspapers to online websites.
