Upon termination of employment or death, the Mississippi Department of Corrections shall pay corrections officers, law enforcement staff, and other facility employees for all accumulated compensatory leave.

Payment for unused compensatory leave shall be made to the employee or their estate, as appropriate.

Section 25-9-119 is amended to clarify that state personnel rules and regulations are binding on agencies "except as otherwise provided by law," allowing for this compensatory leave exception.

The act takes effect July 1, 2016.
