MS SB2313

Amends Mississippi Code Section 97-37-31 to revise the prohibition on firearm silencers by changing the penalty provision from imprisonment in the state penitentiary to the county jail.

Maintains the existing prohibition on manufacturing, selling, or possessing silencers or muffling devices for firearms without federal authorization.

Reduces potential imprisonment to not more than 30 days in county jail, with fines remaining at a maximum of $500.

Removes the requirement for registration of silencers with the Department of Public Safety and annual inventory reporting by law enforcement agencies.

Effective upon passage.
