Adds members of the Mississippi National Guard or United States Armed Forces to the list of persons whose assault constitutes an aggravating circumstance under Mississippi assault law.

Assault on a Mississippi National Guard or Armed Forces member acting within the scope of duty increases penalties for simple assault from $500 fine/6 months jail to $1,000 fine/5 years imprisonment.

Assault on a Mississippi National Guard or Armed Forces member acting within the scope of duty increases penalties for aggravated assault from 1-20 years imprisonment to $5,000 fine/30 years imprisonment.

Effective July 1, 2016.
