Senate Bill 2667 Summary

• Prohibits county utility authorities from extending water, wastewater, and storm water services to new areas unless the cost to customers does not exceed the regional average charged by county authorities.

• Requires that environmental impact from providing service in a new area must be minimal before a county authority can extend or expand service.

• Applies these restrictions to both new service extensions and service expansions under Sections 49-17-743 and 49-17-745 of the Mississippi Code.

• Takes effect July 1, 2016.
