MS SB2756

Amends Mississippi Code Section 67-3-9 to allow cities with a population of at least 1,500 (previously 2,500) to hold elections on permitting beer and light wine sales if located within 3 miles of a city or county that already permits such sales.

Requires a petition signed by 20% of qualified voters to trigger an election on whether to permit or prohibit beer and light wine sales.

Specifies that beer must have an alcoholic content of not more than 8% by weight and light wine must have an alcoholic content of not more than 5% by weight.

Limits elections on this question to once every 5 years per city, with election results determined by majority vote.

Takes effect upon passage.
