Prohibits persons subject to temporary or final domestic abuse protection orders from possessing firearms and requires courts to inform respondents of this prohibition.

Prohibits persons convicted of simple domestic violence from possessing any firearm and requires courts to inform defendants of this restriction upon sentencing.

Expands firearm prohibitions to include persons convicted of misdemeanors involving physical force or threatened use of firearms against specific individuals, and persons subject to domestic abuse protection orders from other states or tribes.

Establishes that violations of the firearm possession prohibitions constitute a felony punishable by a fine up to $5,000 and imprisonment of 1-10 years.

Effective July 1, 2016.
