Excludes burglary of a dwelling (Section 97-17-23(1)) from the definition of "crime of violence" for purposes of drug court eligibility determination.

Prohibits individuals with felony convictions for crimes of violence within the previous 10 years from participating in drug court programs.

Prohibits individuals with felony convictions for trafficking in controlled substances under Section 41-29-139(f) from participating in drug court programs.

Prohibits the current crime before the court from being a crime of violence or trafficking in controlled substances for a defendant to be eligible for drug court.

Effective date is July 1, 2016.
