Amends the definition of "crime of violence" in Mississippi drug court law to exclude burglary of a dwelling under Section 97-17-23(1).

Allows individuals with a prior conviction for burglary of a dwelling to be eligible for drug court programs, whereas they were previously ineligible.

Maintains existing restrictions that drug court participants cannot have felony convictions for crimes of violence within the previous 10 years or trafficking in controlled substances.

Prevents current charges of crimes of violence or trafficking in controlled substances from being prosecuted in drug court.

Effective date: July 1, 2016.
