Concurrent resolution mourning the death of Dr. Walter Cornelius Gough, Jr., a prominent Mississippi Delta medical leader who passed away on February 16, 2016

Dr. Gough had a medical career spanning more than 46 years serving underserved communities across the Mississippi Delta, Nashville, rural Alabama, and Arkansas, including positions at Taborian Hospital, Delta Health Center in Mound Bayou, and North Sunflower Medical Center

Dr. Gough founded Gough Family & Pediatrics Clinic in Drew, Mississippi in 1984 and was board-certified in Family Medicine, Pediatrics, and Emergency Medicine

He served as President of the Mississippi Chapter of the American College of Emergency Physicians in 1999 (first person of color to hold the position), Vice President of the Omega Man of the Year Committee, and was appointed by Governor Ronnie Musgrove to the State Board of Health from 2000-2006

Resolution extends deepest sympathy to his surviving wife May E. Bailey-Gough, six children, 13 grandchildren, and extended family
