Mississippi Bureau of Narcotics Agent Lee Tartt (44) of Grenada died in the line of duty during a shootout in Tishomingo County on February 20, 2016, with three Mississippi Highway Patrol SWAT officers also injured in the incident.

Agent Tartt was a 22-year law enforcement veteran who served with MBN since 2000, was named 2011 MBN Agent of the Year, and received the H. Lane Caldwell Award for Valor in 2012.

Tartt is survived by his wife Deborah Harbin Tartt, two children (Lauren and Landon Harbin), his father James P. "Bubby" Tartt, one sister, and one brother.

The Legislature mourns Agent Tartt's loss and pays tribute to his service, extending condolences to his surviving family and recognizing the sacrifice of law enforcement officers.

The resolution directs this document be presented to Tartt's family, forwarded to the Mississippi Bureau of Narcotics Director and Commissioner of Public Safety, and made available to the Capitol Press Corps.
