MS HB1017

Amends Mississippi Code Section 63-3-519 to authorize sheriffs and deputy sheriffs to use radar speed detection devices on county roads, streets, and highways located outside municipality corporate limits.

Requires county board of supervisors approval through formal order and minutes entry before sheriffs may use radar speed detection equipment in their jurisdiction.

Adds sheriffs and deputies to existing list of law enforcement authorized to use radar, which previously included only Mississippi Highway Safety Patrol, municipal officers in cities over 2,000 population, and campus police.

Effective date of July 1, 2017.
