House Bill 1189 Summary

• Amends Mississippi Code Section 43-13-117 to require the Division of Medicaid to reimburse for services provided to Medicaid-eligible children with an Individualized Education Program (IEP) in school-based settings.

• Covered services include routine and preventive screenings, diagnosis and treatment of identified problems, monitoring and treatment of chronic medical conditions, and therapy services (speech, occupational, physical, and other services under the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act).

• Eliminates the prior approval requirement for reimbursement when services are indicated in the child's IEP.

• Effective July 1, 2017.
