Authorizes county boards of supervisors to petition the Public Service Commission for approval of emergency telephone service charges exceeding $1.00 per month for residential lines and $2.00 per month for commercial lines upon sufficient showing of need that current proceeds are insufficient to fund the service.

Allows boards of supervisors to petition the Public Service Commission for approval of Commercial Mobile Radio Service (CMRS) charges exceeding $1.00 per month per connection upon sufficient showing of need that current proceeds are insufficient to fund the service.

Applies to emergency telephone service charges for residential telephone lines, Voice over Internet Protocol accounts, and commercial telephone lines, as well as CMRS customer connections with primary use in Mississippi.

Effective July 1, 2017.
