MS HB1321

Amends Mississippi Code Section 67-3-9 to allow cities with a population of at least 1,500 (previously 2,500) to hold elections permitting beer and light wine sales if located within 3 miles of a city or county that already permits such sales.

Cities may hold elections to permit or prohibit beer and light wine sales upon presentation of a petition containing signatures from 20% of qualified voters to the city governing body.

Elections on the same question cannot be held in a city more frequently than once every 5 years.

Beer must contain no more than 8% alcohol by weight and light wine no more than 5% alcohol by weight.

Effective upon passage.
