MS HB1408

Amends Section 99-19-73 of Mississippi Code to add a $1.00 assessment to the Mississippi Legal Services Fund for traffic violations, implied consent law violations, game and fish violations, other misdemeanors, and other felonies.

Creates new assessment categories: $10.00 for speeding 10-20 mph over limit, $20.00 for speeding 20-30 mph over limit, and $30.00 for speeding 30+ mph over limit; also $10.00 each for reckless and careless driving violations.

Removes numerous existing special fund allocations (marked as [Deleted]) that previously received portions of fine assessments, consolidating funds into the General Fund.

Maintains existing assessments for railroad crossing violations ($25.00) and drug violations ($25.00), with all newly collected speeding and reckless/careless driving assessments deposited into the State General Fund.

Takes effect July 1, 2017.
