MS HB1433

Establishes a statewide election in November 2018 to be held during the regular general election to determine whether to increase sales tax, gasoline excise tax, and special fuel excise tax on undyed diesel fuel for infrastructure improvements.

Requires ballot language describing the taxes, purposes for tax increase, and "FOR THE INCREASE IN TAXES" and "AGAINST THE INCREASE IN TAXES" options for voter selection.

Passage of the referendum requires a 60% affirmative vote from qualified electors who participate in the election.

Directs county election commissioners to transmit vote totals to the Secretary of State, who shall tabulate returns and certify results to the Governor and both houses of the Legislature.

Effective date is July 1, 2017.
