Reduces the sales tax rate on retail sales of motorcycles from 7 percent to 5 percent by amending Section 27-65-17 of the Mississippi Code.

Motorcycles are defined according to Section 27-19-3 for purposes of determining eligibility for the reduced tax rate.

The reduced 5 percent tax rate applies only to retail sales of motorcycles and does not affect other vehicle categories such as automobiles, trucks, or manufactured homes.

The act becomes effective on July 1, 2017.

Does not affect any tax claims, assessments, or appeals for taxes accrued before the effective date.
